Rita Dorn of Hardin passed away peacefully on Dec. 6, at the age of 87, at the Riverstone Hospice House in Billings, Montana. ›

She was born April 29, 1932 in Kalispell, Montana, to Elva and Arvilla (Lessard) McMorris. Her father was a well-known dragline operator who worked on various projects throughout Montana before moving his family to Hardin.

She spent most of her childhood in Hardin and received her education. Rita married Carl Dorn on Aug. 28, 1949 in Hardin. The couple made their home on the family farm north of town, where they raised sugar beets and other crops.

Rita had a passion for crocheting and knitting beautiful afghans, amongst many other items.

Her last years were enjoyed playing cards and being with her new friends at Aspen View. She was a member of the Christ E & R Church of Hardin.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Carl Dorn; and two sisters, Eileen McMorris and Elva Oswald.

Survivors include three sons, Jim (Debbie), Rick and Bob (Kristie) Dorn; one sister, Ruth Krone of Augusta, Montana; four grandsons, Michael, David, Daniel and Ryan Dorn; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Jason) Preble and Laura Dorn; four great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.

The family would like to thank St. Vincent Hospital and Riverstone Hospice for the wonderful care that Rita received.

Graveside service will be Thursday Dec. 12, 2019 t 11 a.m. in the Hardin Fairview Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
