It snowed again Sunday, and now all the work I did to clear the ice off my driveway is for naught. Ah well…take heart, though, because as of today, there are still 297 shopping days until Christmas 2018.

Last September, we at the Big Horn County Library were scheduled to host the annual South Central Library Federation of Montana meeting. We were quite excited, as this was the first time anyone could remember the meeting being held in Hardin. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the meeting was postponed. I am happy to say, however, that it was rescheduled and will be taking place this Saturday, March 10.

Around 40 librarians and library trustees from around the region will be in attendance for the one-day event. There will be a general meeting for all those attending in the morning, then the Montana State Library will be providing training in the afternoon. By attending this meeting and training, libraries will then be eligible to receive funding from the federation for further training and new technologies.

Should you be out and about on Saturday, you will see a fair amount of activity at the Big Horn County Library, but we will not be open to the public.

For those who have not heard yet, we also will be hosting another event on Thursday, April 12. This will be a presentation by author New York Times bestselling author Tracie Peterson. Mrs. Peterson makes her home in Montana and many of her stories also take place in and around Montana. She is a favorite of many who check out books from the “Family” section at the library, as well as those who simply enjoy a good historical romance.

This event is free to the public and will go from 4-6 p.m. Should you have copies of her books you would like signed, Mrs. Peterson will be signing those as well as bringing other novels of hers that can be purchased.

Be sure to plan on attending this presentation; this is one of those events you will not want to miss. Stay warm and be safe on the roads.
