If you are a regular at the Big Horn County Library, you know that back in November 2018, our then-Director Donelle Boyer retired and moved on to other adventures. Donelle had been here forever and a day, and she most definitely paid her dues. We all wished her well, but at the same time it left us shorthanded.

Since then, we have been operating the library one down from a full complement of employees. While we did manage to keep the ship afloat over the last few months it has, at times, been a little difficult. That ended this Monday, March 25 when Bertrand Feuvray became our newest employee.

Bertrand, who goes by Bert, is originally from France and came to Big Horn County in the mid-1990s. He has worked around this area ever since in a variety of jobs. He will be working at the front desk on the first floor and we at the library are very happy to have him here. Make a point of coming in to meet and say “Hi” to the library’s newest addition.

I would also like to remind everyone that the Friends of the Library have a continual book sale going on at the ground floor. There are new books coming in all the time, and you can find them in the turnstile to the right of the front door and on the shelves in the old bookmobile room. We keep a number of supplies in that room, as well, and so we have to keep it locked for security’s sake, but should you want to browse all the books for sale in that room, just ask someone at the front desk to open the door for you. Paperbacks are 25 cents each or five for $1, and hardcovers are 50 cents each.

Remember, in less than two weeks, New York Times bestselling author Craig Johnson will be at the library to answer questions and tell of his writing. I’m sure most, if not all, of you know Johnson is the author of the bestselling Longmire series. Johnson served as an executive consultant on the “Longmire” Netflix television series based on the books. He will have with him Marcus Red Thunder, who also worked as a consultant on the popular series. This event takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday April 9. Be sure to add this one to your calendar. It will be a great time for everyone.

We at the Big Horn County Library would like to wish you a happy and safe month of April. Be careful traveling around the county, as flooding is making some roads hazardous.
