Hardin wins 3 of 4 in MC softball jamboree

Hardin’s Lady Bulldog softball team defeated three-fourths of its opposition Saturday during a jamboree in Miles City where, according to Head Coach Sarah Passes, “we definitely competed and played well.”

The team pushed through four matchups over the course of about seven hours, with the first game starting at 9:30 a.m. and the last at 3:30 p.m. The Ladies defeated – in order – Shepherd 6 points to 4, Sidney 6-4 and Huntley Project 5-3. Glendive gave Hardin its one loss at 3-4.

Commenting on the Glendive game, Hardin pitcher Demi Uffelman said it was one where “we did have the errors stack up.”

“If we [didn’t do] those errors, it would have been 0-4,” she said.

Thanks to powerful throws by Uffelman, good defensive outs and effective hits, according to Passes, the Ladies ended the jamboree on a strong note with their victory over Huntley Project. Team positivity, according to Uffelman, also was a bonus.

“Demi pitched really well; she got better as the games went on,” Passes said, adding that despite a slow start, “we made a lot of good defensive plays and heads-up plays this weekend.”

Based on the competition, Passes said, “I think we’re one of the top teams in the Eastern A.”

“We’re definitely going to have to work hard,” she said. “There’s still a lot of season left.”

On Wednesday, Hardin faced Billings Central in an away game, winning 17-4 in five innings.
