Hardin High School’s 2021 prom candidates were selected last week by the junior class. Online voting took place Monday. The 2021 prom king and queen will be announce at coronation on Saturday. King candidates are (back row from left) Paul Little Light, Quaiden Whiteman, Terrel Alden and Tegan Medicine Bull. Queen candidates are (front row left) Abigail Noteboom, Tori Marty, Macie Flamm and Nat’aani Holds the Enemy.

Hardin School District administrators and Big Horn County Health Department officials approved a plan to hold a modified prom that meets COVID-19 safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the Big Horn County Health Department, HHS Dean of Students Academics Mitch Evans said in an email.

Prom will be held on Saturday, March 20 at the Hardin High School.

“This date was the only date that fit with the school activity schedule with such short notice,” Evans said. “The students said they would make it work — A great group of students on the planning committee I might add.”

Masks are required for prom attendees at all times unless they are eating or dancing. The dance is open to all HHS juniors and seniors, outside prom guests are prohibited this year.

“The staff at HHS is excited that we will be able to offer a limited dance activity for our students this year,” Evans said.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no public viewing of the prom area or the Grand March.

Much like Hardin’s athletic events this year, each student attending the dance will receive two passes they can give to family members to attend the prom coronation.

The high school’s rear game entrance on Miles Avenue will open at 7:30 p.m. for event pass holders. There will be a $1 fee to enter.

Grand march will begin at 8:15 p.m. in the high school gym. Coronation will take place about 8:45 p.m.

Prom goers will stop and pose for photos for both sides of the gym as they proceed to the HHS Commons after coronation. Visitors will not be allowed on the gym floor and all guests must wear masks, be socially distanced and seated in the bleachers.

The prom will start at 9 p.m. and end at midnight.
