Wendall Roundstone winner of the Hearts for the Holidays winner sits in his new car Wednesday morning.

Early Wednesday morning Wendall Roundstone and Tsista Red Cherries were waiting for their ride to pick them up for a medical appointment at Billings Clinic. Red Cherries, a paraplegic, has several appointments a month, her partner, Roundstone, acts as her caretaker.

“We were waiting for public transportation this morning and someone was knocking on the door,” Red Cherries said. “I thought, ‘Awe man, they’re early,’ and it was Hardin Chevrolet.”

Staff at Hardin Chevrolet sorted through hundreds of nominations for their 12th Annual Hearts for the Holidays promotion to find the perfect new owner of the 2016 Chevy Malibu they gave away this year.

“Wendall was nominated because he is an amazing caregiver,” said Christine Jull, one of the people who nominated Roundstone. “They were in a serious accident a couple of years ago that left his wife paralyzed. He’s been caring for her and his clients ever since. The man has an amazing heart.”

Roundstone, who prides himself on working hard for his family said winning the vehicle shows that it pays to have a good work ethic.

“I put my head down and do what I can do and this is my hard work being seen,” he said. “Its mind blowing knowing that other people see me working. I do everything I do with purpose. If people can do this for me, I don't see why I can’t go out of my way to do things for others.”

He added that having a vehicle to get to the grocery store and doctor’s appointments is going to make life for him and Red Cherries much easier.

“It's a life changer for sure,” he said. “I’m grateful, I appreciate it. I can do more. I can get my wife to her appointments. I can go grocery shopping. I appreciate all the people who wrote letters, even though I don’t know all of them too well. Having a car is one less thing to worry about, especially in the winter.”

Through the annual Hearts for the Holidays promotion, Hardin Chevrolet helps members of our community by giving away a vehicle and other prizes to individuals or families in need of a vehicle or a little extra help over the holidays. “We love giving back to our community,” Hardin Chevy

“We love giving back to our community,” Hardin Chevy Owner and Operator Jamey Eisenbarth said. “Our surprise vehicle giveaway through Hearts for the Holidays is one of the most rewarding things Hardin Chevrolet does every year, especially this in 2020.”

Red Cherries said this year has been especially hard on her and Roundstone.

“We lost my aunties and my mom a month later and our other vehicle gave out. We didn’t know what to do. I was just thinking about how I would read about Hardin Chevy giving away a vehicle every year and it would always choke me up,” she said. “Wendell deserves this.”
