On Sunday, Oct. 21, youth bowlers took to the lanes at Community Center Bowl for the first stop of a newly-formed travel league that was created in cooperation with Fireside Lanes (Billings), Sunset Lanes (Billings), Town & Country Lanes (Billings) and Fat Cat Lanes (Laurel).

The format consists of five-member baker teams (five members bowling as one person), bowling six games followed by three match play games and a position round, earning 30 bonus pins per match win. The top five teams then bowl an eliminator finals in which they bowl one game, and the top three scores move on to bowl one final game to determine first, second and third place.

Hardin’s team was represented by William Noteboom, Toby Mark, Tyran Joe, Ben Noteboom and Caleb Mark. Though bowling near average, they were in seventh place going into match play, trailing the top five by only 19 pins. They were able to win all three match play games, as well as the position round, adding an additional 120 pins to their score and bumping them up to second place going into the finals. From there, they took the third spot after game 1, edging Town & Country by four pins.

Hardin would face the teams Saturday Early Morning and Thursday After School out of Billings in the final game, taking first place by only one pin.

Final game scores:

Hardin – 212; Saturday Early Morning – 211; Thursday After School – 165
