The Green New Deal equals disaster

Every time you turn on the TV news cycle, it seems some media mouthpiece is talking about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and the Green New Deal.

Included in this legislation is the elimination of anything that produces atmospheric carbon dioxide over the next 10 years.

This would include replacing all coal or natural gas-fired power plants to renewable energy. It even touts the elimination of combustion engines in cars, air travel, cows or anything that creates greenhouse gases.

After reading through the legislation proposed by AOC, the first thing that came to my mind was, “This sounds like the 5- and 10-year plans that communist leadership in the old Soviet Union put together.”

Everybody knows how well that worked out.

This piece of legislation is a recipe for total economic disaster.

The green part of the plan is bad enough, but the economic factors alone would leave the United States looking like Venezuela.

I have to say these are some of the nuttiest things I’ve ever read in a piece of legislation.

According to estimates, the Green New Deal would cost taxpayers one trillion dollars per year to implement.

Even Greenpeace founder Patrick Moore opposes the deal and Moore is speaking as an environmentalist.

Moore wrote: “Basically, they are opposed to approximately 98.5 percent of all the electricity that we are all using and nearly 100 percent of all the vehicle, transportation, ships and planes that we are using. You don’t have a plan to feed eight billion people without fossil fuels or get the food into the cities where it’s needed. That requires large trucks, and there’s not going to be electric trucks anytime soon hauling 40 tons of food into the supermarkets.”

He went on to predict that this deal would cause the collapse of agriculture production and cause starvation across the country, and “half the population would die” shortly after.

He also wrote there would be no more trees on the planet since humans would have to rely on them for fuel and called the banning of airplanes “insanity.”

Moore went as far to calling AOC “a pompous little twit.”

The Green New Deal is right out of Marxist ideology.

I don’t know what is going on here with this new generation of young politicians. Myself being old enough to remember the Cold War – the fear that we had growing up regarding nuclear war; and witnessing the fall of Marxism, socialism and communism – all one has to do is study history to note these failures.

Don’t these young people study history anymore? It was the economic power of capitalism that brought socialism and communism to their knees.

From a green standpoint, socialism and communism were what led to destroying the environments of Eastern Europe. After the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany, the environmental cleanup from years of communism was monumental.

In Russia, there are still places that are uninhabitable because of environmental damage.

Let’s look at the west; our environment is far cleaner than it was in 1960.

How did that happen? It was capitalism developing technology that enabled countries like the United States to find new methods that are cleaner and more environmentally friendly to our water, land and air.

I will guarantee everyone, just by studying the past, that AOC’s Green New Deal and its socialist promises will not lead to a cleaner planet, but one that is environmentally worse, with large populations of people left starving, desperate and dying.
