Dean Chavez

The hum of a jake brake, watching a fierce lightning storm, a nice trout on the end of the line, or even a good cup of coffee; these are a few things Dean really enjoyed, but what Dean loved the most was his family. He would often say, “if you don’t have family, you don’t have anything.”

Born January 17, 1967 to George and Judith Gonzales-Chavez, he joined his big brothers Shavie (Albert) and Timmy. Oh the stories that could be told. He lived all his life in Hardin, having passed away July 12, 2022.

Having truck driving in his blood, that’s what he would go on to do starting at a young age with Robert Thompson trucking. He continued working with various road construction jobs and recently with Larry Dorn for a good number of years, creating a life long friendship. Dean decided to venture out on his own, buying a big blue Pete in December 2021 hauling road oil for Kenny Brown. However, this wasn’t meant to be, due to illness he sold his dream to his nephew Ryan in April.

Dean married his young bride and best friend ever Roxanne Enzminger in September of 1986. They had three wonderful, awesome, beautiful children, Todd, Tracey and Terra. They enjoyed family trips, camping, fishing, and all the holidays spent together.

Dean was preceded in death by his mother, father-in-law, grandparents, and sisters in law Donna and Diana, in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his wife Roxanne; sons Todd and Tracey and daughter Terra: his father George: brothers Shavie (Lisa), Timmy, special sister Colleen; In-laws Lindsay Enzminger, George and Paula Tregear; mother-in-law Rosalyn (Daryl) Ohmsted; granddaughters Emily and Leah Chavez: special niece and nephew Ashton and Ryan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and his special friends Jeff and Robert.
