Darlene Rae Richmond Wilson of Sarpy Creek passed away on Oct. 11, 2018 at the age of 83. On May 24, 1935 in Baker, Montana, Darlene was born to Ronald and Frances Richmond, along with older brother LeRoy. She later attended schools in Miles City and Hardin, where she met her high school sweetheart, Lee Wilson.

Lee and Darlene were married on Dec. 10, 1953. The couple would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in December of 2018. Darlene, always a self-proclaimed city girl, moved to the country with her family on Sarpy Creek, where they resided for the last 60 years. Together, they had four children: Connie, Karen, Doug and Leslie. She was lovingly known as “Granny” by her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Darlene loved to sew and took great pride in sewing most of her children’s clothes as they were growing up. She could always be depended on to make any last-minute alterations to any clothing for her kids or grandkids in a pinch. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, and made many wonderful blankets and potholders for family and friends for many occasions throughout her years. Darlene was notorious for keeping a spotless household, as well as her delectable cooking and baking.

Some of Darlene’s other favorite activities were watching her children and grandchildren, which she adored. Lee and Darlene made every effort to attend events such as rodeos, concerts and sporting events. She loved to play cards, especially bridge, as well as socialize with her circle of Sarpy Creek friends. She liked to try her luck at the slot machines, where she was extremely lucky! A dedicated churchgoer, she traveled over 30 miles to attend Sunday church services on a regular basis.

Lee and Darlene had a second home in Yuma, Arizona in which they looked forward to traveling to every winter for several years. In Yuma, Lee and Darlene made many good friends with whom they enjoyed an active social life.

To anyone who knew her, Darlene always will be remembered as a kind and giving person. She is preceded in death by her parents Ronald and Frances Richmond, brother LeRoy Richmond, and brother-inlaw Gordon DeVore. She is survived by her husband Lee Wilson; children Connie (Dave) McNaney, Karen (Jim) Larson, Doug (Sandy) Wilson and Leslie (Jay) Murnion; grandchildren Jamie (Morgan) Irish, Brian (Laini) McNaney, Tyler (Annie) Larson, Brenda McNaney, Sean Wilson, Raegen Lange, Kendall Lange and Ridge Murnion; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Jeanie De-Vore and Carol Richmond; along with many friends.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 at Bullis Funeral Chapel. A reception will follow at the Fort Custer Golf Club in Hardin. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
