Christina Stieber remembered for her hard-working, ‘lovely’ nature

A57-year resident of the North Valley and Hardin passed away recently. Christina Stieber was the mother of Mark, Stanley, Paul and Marlene. The Stieber family farm is still in operation and run by son Stanley, and his wife and daughters.

I told Christina how my husband admired the way the Stieber farm was run with having the finest crops and all the hard work seen in the productivity. She said that Henry, their father, taught them well.

The Stiebers are not ones to buy new machinery because they can do their own mechanic work and put in the sweat equity required to make the farm profitable. She worked alongside her husband, whether driving truck or tractor, or taking care of the work crew.

When I visited Christina, she would tell of each family member, kids and grandkids, what they were up to and bragging on each one. She was proud of all of them. Christina was a lovely lady who loved her family very much. Our condolences are sent to the family for the loss of your mother, grandmother and sister.

We, naturally, are looking forward to nicer weather soon. This cold and snow has kept several seniors home. Our bus is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The charge is $1 per round trip. This is less than starting your cold car and safer too. Call us at 406-665-2581.

The following is a short discussion on REAL ID and what older adults need to know. The Big Horn County Treasurer’s office will be handling the REAL ID. You may obtain information at the office or call Denise Rios, Big Horn County treasurer, with questions. The phone number is 406-665-9837.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, every state and territory resident will need to present a REAL ID compliance license/ ID or another acceptable form of identification for accessing “Federal facilities, entering nuclear power plants and boarding commercial aircraft.”

The DHS definition of a federal facility means a secure federal facility or military base. The REAL ID is not needed to apply for or receive federal benefits, enter a post office or other federal facility that does not require identification, ride Amtrak or other public ground transportation, or visit a hospital or receive lifesaving services.

The REAL ID is not needed to apply for or receive federal benefits.

Older adults should remember that the REAL ID will be required to board a domestic flight starting Oct. 1, 2020. Older adults should look to their state’s Department of Motor Vehicle page to keep-up-to-date on the REAL ID process.
