On March 21, 2018, the Lord called Carol Ann Bowers to her heavenly home. Carol was born on March 26, 1941 to William and Mabel (Pitsch) Kern. She grew up in Garryowen, attending school in Crow Agency and Hardin, graduating in 1958. Carol married Lawrence Bowers and they were later divorced. The couple had three children: Jodeen, Cheryl and Larry.

Carol’s work career included various jobs through the years, concluding with the Hardin School District. Carol began working in the cafeteria and later became a paraprofessional, teaching in the Special Ed/Resource departments.

She was kind, patient and truly cared about her students. Carol was affectionately known by many of her students as “Kaa’le Bowers.” She also took tickets at the ballgames for many years and enjoyed visiting with the many fans who came to watch the Bulldogs. She worked for the school district for more than 40 years and retired in 2017.

Carol was a member of the Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church. She began playing the piano for Sunday school and church as a young teenager. She continued playing faithfully until the time of her death. She loved playing the piano and was a talented pianist.

Carol’s greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She loved them with all her heart and was the happiest when she could spend time with them. We will all miss her so much! We know she is in Heaven with the Lord and her loved ones that have gone before her. Carol was the strongest and most caring person we knew. Our hearts are aching, but it comforts us to know that now her pain is gone and she is at peace.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Cheryl; her brothers Bill and Dave Kern; and her sisters Clara Muhlbeier, Wilma Cole and Elsie Rice. Carol is survived by her children Jodeen (Bim) Marston and Larry (Karen) Bowers; her grandchildren Nathan (Monica) Marston, Katie (Kris) Thatcher, Nick (Becca) Bowers, Emily and Andrea Bowers; her greatgrandchildren Aubrey, Layne and Declan Marston, Reata, Carter and Cooper Thatcher, Tucker Bowers and baby boy Bowers due to arrive in July; her brother Ed Kern; her sister Bonnie (Dan) Torske; her sister-inlaw Jean Kern; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
