Blaine Fallsdown Sr.

Blaine Fallsdown Sr., 88 of Crow Agency, passed away August 17, 2020 of natural causes at Big Horn Memorial Hospital.

Isanee Itchish/Goes on a Good Path, was born July 8, 1932 in Crow Agency, the son of Louis Fallsdown and Winona Other Medicine. He grew up in south Garryowen, attended schools in Crow Agency, Hardin and graduated from Busby in 1950.

Blaine married the love of his life Danetta Medicine Tail in November 1955. They made their home in Crow Agency, Montana. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1955. He received an honorable discharge in 1957. He was raised in the Crow Culture following Crow traditional ways. He was member of the Bad War Deeds and child of the Greasy Mouth. He participated in handgame, sweat lodge and the Native American church. He also served as a deacon in the Crow Community Baptist Church.

Blaine was a cattle rancher from 1969 to 1978 and an avid calf roper. He won many ropings across the region and owned outstanding race horses. He excelled in high school basketball for the Busby Eagles. He was involved in tribal politics, served on many tribal committees including, credit, land and the 107th committee. One of Blaine’s favorite hobbies was playing Bingo.

Blaine is proceeded in death by his wife, Danetta; son, Blaine Ken “JR BOSS”; daughter, Karna; parents; brothers, Andrew, Sam Jr. and Gilbert Birdinground Sr., younger brother Robert Pickett Sr., Robert Sr., Raymond Sr., Frank Sr. and Wesley Fallsdown Sr.; biological sisters, Tina Fallsdown, Louise and Ernestine Birdinground, Violet Other Medicine, Verlie Half, Ramona, Ida and Phyliss Fallsdown; adopted sons, Melvin Que, Billy, Greg, Indian, and Alvin Three Irons, Emmerson and Sheldon Pickett, Randy, Blaine and Arnold Real Bird, Albert Birdinground, and Rocky Sage; grandson, Buster Three Irons; and great-grandson, Michael Not Afraid.

Survivors include his daughter, Marlene Fallsdown (George Steinmetz); sisters, Laura P. Real Bird, Mary Black Eagle, Regina Goes Ahead and Velma Jean Adams; brothers, Joe and Lloyd Pickett; along with numerous nieces and nephews; adopted daughter, Merceline Little Nest and Lori Birdinground; adopted sons, Ross Whiteman, Cory Russell, Clarence Three Irons, Gilford Seestheground, William Driftwood, Thurlough, Eugene and Quinten Birdinground, Lawrence Pretty Weasel, and Mark Real Bird; his grandchildren, Sharon LaForge, Clarence (Kristen) and George Ken Little Wolf III, Christie Medicine Tail, Josephine, Yvon (Sierra) Little Light Medicine Tail Jr., Kidd Little Light, Kim, Lucy and Lauren Other Medicine; great-grandchildren, Roddy Not Afraid, Baby Clarence (Chelsea), Christa, Krissell, Anthony, Xainin, Xada, Jayden, Taylor, Zoey, Xandra, Samuel and George Little Wolf, Lizzie and Brilee Westline, Debra and Sonny Kate LaRance, Aliyah, Jordan, Aubrey, Memphis and Madi-Jo Little Light; great-greatgrandson, Braxton Little Wolf; as well as the Fallsdown, Other Medicine, Pretty Paint, Old Elk, Morrison, Birdinground, Stops and Goes Ahead families. Graveside service with Military Honors will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Crow Agency Cemetery.
